Is 37 weeks too early to try to induce?
In 2 weeks I'll be 37 weeks pregnant.
Is that too early to induce naturally ( not with Castor oil)
With things like yoga, sex, walking, spicy food, acupressure..
He measured 2 weeks behind at around 25 weeks though so should I try to get another ultrasound done first to determine his development?
when will a doctor usually preform a membrane sweep?
As long as you don't try to induce with castor oil or tea then I say you should go for it. It might work or it might not. And you have to be at least 4cm dilated for you to be able to have your membranes swept. You think you're impatient now? I tried lots of walking, boyfriend didn't want to have sex, wasn't dilated until a week after my due date. I was a week over my due date but the waiting was all worth it. The baby will come out when the baby is ready.

Im 37 weeks pregnant and want to induce labor?
im 37 weeks pregnant with my first. but between ultrasound measurements and blood work, my due date is about 1-2 weeks off. so i technically am 38-39 weeks. my son is dropped and heads down, i am 2 cm dialated and 25% effaced. i started having contractions 3 days ago, but they stopped and left me with a constant backache. i tried walking, spicy foods, sex and about everything else but wanted some imput before i tried the castor oil? and how would you recommend taking it?
DO NOT DO CASTOR OIL. it can harm your baby even though you are technically 38/39 wks along that means you still TECHNICALLY have 1-2 weeks to full term and some gynos wait till 2 wks past due, as long as no fetal distress, not high risk pregnancy & it continues to progress it is good you are already having effacing & dilation so early. and I was dilated to 3, 80% effaced with contractions for a week and had false labor once before my dr finally induced me due to complications (fetal distress, stopped progression & high risk) 3 days BEFORE my due date.
I am 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant with my 4th baby and I want to induce naturally?
Yesterday, I tried castor oil, spicy foods, walking, acupressure and a glass of red wine and nothing worked. Anyone have any other ideas?
BTW, Ethel, my baby would not have to spend any time in the NICU because she is already at term. Apparently, you are the one who doesn't know anything.
There are not any real, guaranteed methods to induce labor. Sorry. Don't you think if there were, everybody would know about them and do them? There are a few methods that COINCIDENTALLY labor has followed, so people started telling that they caused labor. They don't. About the only thing that there is actual proven research on is walking. If you are in early labor already, walking can help it move along. But even walking won't cause you to go into labor. You are still quite early. Most babies' lungs are developed by 37 weeks, but some need 38. Why not give it at least a little longer to make sure your baby's lungs are ready.
No Dilation at 37 weeks?
I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my doctor said I'm barely 1/2 cm dilated. I'm due Jan. 14th but since I'm not dilating my doctor said he is going to induce me around the 7th. My friend is due Jan. 19th and is already 2 cm dilated. Is it normal not to be dilated at 37 weeks? This is my first pregnancy. But I would think I would be dilated and having this baby early. I work in retail and stand on my feet for about 7 hours, 5 days a week. I eat a lot of spicy food and the whole nipple stimulation doesn't seem to have any results. I don't know why I'm dilating.
I am due January 7 & i am not dialated yet! The dr is not concerned at all but to be honest i am EXACTLY 37 weeks today, you are only 36 weeks which is not even technically full term yet! I know the feeling i am also still working & i work 5-6 days a week & 12-15 hour shifts I guess the bottom line is the baby will come when the baby wants unfortunatley for us! LOL Good Luck!
